Saturday update

Some more notes about tomorrow:
1. The Watercress Line have their War on the Line event tomorrow. This will put pressure on parking in the town. If possible, please try and car share. The main car park is at Perins School (SO24 9BS) with the station car park (SO24 9JG) as an overflow option. If both car parks are full then on-street parking is available in the town but please don’t block any access points. Local runners please try and walk/jog/cycle to the start!
2. Water. There are 600 bottles of water on the route and there are 400 runners. Please don’t take 2 bottles. Try and take one and hold onto it. Dispose of the bottle responsibly!
3. T-shirts. Our online entry provider has allocated numbers alphabetically, not in the order in which you applied – this has messed up my T-shirt distribution plan. So if you entered before Friday and your number is less than 373 you should get a T-shirt. Any problems please find me after the race.
4. A reminder that the roads aren’t closed to traffic so you need to be alert for cars, bicycles, trucks, mobility scooters, dogs etc (no headphones please). For the last section of the race along the Avenue back to Arlebury Park run on the path under the trees, not on the road. Please pay attention to the marshals.
The weather looks good for running, so enjoy yourselves and stay safe.
A list of runners entered before Friday is here: 2018 Alresford 10k Entries for website

Online entries closed

Hi – we’ve closed the online entries now so that we can organise the numbers and timing chips ahead of Sunday. There will be entries on the day. UK Athletics affiliated runners £17 and non-affiliated runners £19.

Numbers and chips

Your numbers and timing chips will be available for collection on Sunday from the registration desks in the Alresford Recreation Centre at Arlebury Park from 0830. Please pin your number to the front of your running vest and follow the instructions for attaching the timing chip to your shoe.

I’ll be sending out some more notes and instructions later in the week.

Still time to enter

We’re going to close the online entries on Friday, so if you’re thinking about it get your entries in quick. After Friday the only option to enter will be in person on the day using cash (no cheques or cards I’m afraid). I’ll post on Friday how many places we’ll have available.

Great to see nearly 100 runners from Alresford! We set up the run 11 years ago to provide a local event for local people, so it’s fantastic that so many are taking up the challenge.

See you Sunday!

One week to go!

Just one week left until the race now. 320 entries so far, so there are still some T-shirts up for grabs (I have 350 and will allocate them on a first come first served basis). Enter online at:

Just a reminder that the Fun Runs are organised by the PTA from Sun Hill Junior School. There are two fun runs this year: the 500m dash for the under 7’s and the round the park 1k (two laps of the park) for 7-11. There is no 5k road fun run this year I’m afraid because of road closure issues.

Two weeks to go!

Just two weeks to go now. We currently have 285 entries as of this morning. Just 45 UK Athletics affiliated runners and so the field is wide open for those wanting to have a go at the prize money for the first male and female runners.

I’ve ordered 350 T-shirts and will allocate these to the first 350 entrants, so sign up soon if you want to be sure of getting one.

As ever, it should be a great day thanks all the hard work behind the scenes from the Rotary Club and everyone else in the community.
