Update Saturday 19th June

The weather looks grim overnight, but should be alright for our run on Sunday. The field will be wet underfoot and potentially slippery for the start and finish section on the grass. There will be puddles on the road sections, particularly just after the 2km point.
Parking is at Perins School, the Train Station or in the town and is not marshalled. Please take care not to block any local access or driveways.
Please bring a mask to wear when you collect your number and in the loos. We’ll have lots of hand sanitizer available.
Remember: Hands, Face, Space, Fresh Air. We’ll have plenty of fresh air tomorrow!
The Arlebury Cafe will be open for coffee and various delicious breakfast treats.
Just a reminder that the loos are in the Arlebury Park Car Park!! Please don’t use the ones inside the building. Please don’t change in the loos – the queues will become horrendous.
And there are no changing rooms – so come dressed to run. We will have a baggage area under a tent, but we can’t guarantee security.
Please help us to keep you safe by socially distancing as much as possible, spreading out at the start (all times are chip times) and listening to the marshals.

Instructions for runners

Entries are now closed and we’re sorting out the entries from last year and this year to get a consolidated list.

We’ll post some instructions for runners here over the next couple of days. Essential things to note: no changing rooms; only portaloos in the car park (please don’t sue the loos for changing!); collect your number on the day; bring a mask; no water point on route – sealed water bottles at the start/finish; baggage area outside – not a secure room this year.

Number collection opens 0830. Race starts at 1000. It will be a spaced out, rolling start; all timings are chip time.

Update 29 May

Things are still looking good for 20th June! Many thanks to all those that have contacted me about running or deferring your entries.

Things will, inevitably, be different this year. No changing rooms, no showers, no T-shirts or medals, the baggage area will be outside. Please don’t bring any spectators with you! At the start I’ll need all the runners to spread out and line up in rough finish time order – the timings will all be chip times, so there’s no advantage to crossing the start line quickly.

Now the good news! The Arlebury Cafe will be open for refreshments. They are also baking commemorative cookies for all the runners and there will be hampers of locally sourced goodies for the age category winners. We have some spot prizes to give away too, including bottles of prosecco from Tesco, beer from Itchen Valley Brewery and gym membership from Station Mill. Huge thanks to all of the local businesses that are supporting us.

If things are looking good in a week’s time we’ll open up for a few more entries – keep your eye on local social media.

Update 3 April 2021

Things are looking positive for June! UK Athletics have issued a preliminary license that allows us to continue our planning. Things will, inevitably, be different this year. We won’t have anything indoors. Registration, number collection, baggage etc will all be outside. There won’t be any changing rooms, so please come dressed to run. The start may be staggered, depending on the rules in place at the time, with the fastest runners going out first. Water will have to be in bottles (something we’ve been trying to get away from…); if possible, bring your own water.

The threat of potential postponement or cancellation is always with us and so we won’t be ordering T-shirts and medals – the risk is too great to us as a charity. Instead, we’ll work with local businesses and create something for all the runners – details to follow.

At the moment all the entries from last year have been rolled over. If we can open up for new entries, we will, but not until about 4 weeks before the race, when the state of the nation/world may be a little clearer. As ever, if you have questions, please contact us.

Alresford 10k – 20th June 2021

Hi everyone. A quick update to say that we intend to press ahead with the Alresford 10k next year. We’re obviously not sure about the Hampshire Road Race League status, but the race will definitely happen and we’ll take whatever Covid safe precautions we need to at the time.

All of this year’s entries (for the 2020 race) have been rolled over to next year. I’m talking to Active Training World about how we’ll cope with swaps, transfers and refunds and I’ll post here once we have a plan in place.

Keep on running! It feels like it’s been too long since we’ve been racing.
